Our unique combination spinner lures are perfect for attracting a wide variety of fish.
This particular spinner lure is the next size up from the small 14 size hook swivel-less fly lure and is suited for leaders of 6lb to 15lb, depending on the brand, stiffness and type of line.
We do not recommend using line lighter than 6lb, as these lures tend to attract larger aggressive fish that hit these lures quite hard.
The unique design and shape, used with the right line makes this fly lure both a spinner and spoon type of lure.
When retrieved slowly, or in still waters, the lure wobbles from side to side and when retrieved faster or retrieved or held static in flowing water, the lure will spin.
The unique spinning action is similar to all of the Mezz Fishing Tackle Swivel-Less Fly Spinners, and the multi combination action of this design is probably unique and few, if any, other fly lures or other types of lures can do the same.
Even better, due to the light weight of this lure, the body can be straightened by hand to generate more wobble and less spin, or bent more to give more spin and less wobble, depending on the water being fished and the needs of the angler.
As well as using all the normal types of retrieves, try using the sink and draw style, as this fly lure has an enticing fluttering action when left to sink. This is a very quick effective way of covering various depths.
The light weight of this spinner fly lure, combined with no extra split rings, swivels and only one hook, makes this lure light enough to be cast on most fly rods, from 6 weight, up to double handed salmon fly rods and line.
When using this type of lightweight fly lure with a traditional fly rod and line, you enable a combination of the best parts of fly fishing (e.g. presentation, mending line varied direction and depth control, finesse, varied presentation and better control of the fly lure, etc.).
Combined with the advantages of traditional lures, such as spoons and spinners, etc, with better vibration, action, flash, life-like movement, etc, gives the best of both worlds with few, if any, of the vices of either, something hard to find these days.
The hook being at the front ensures that fish are hooked cleanly in the mouth and the hook in conjunction with the lure body acts as a hook snagging device and helps make sure that the hook does not lay flat in the fishes mouth when striking.
Other advantages are, when left to sink, the hook faces upwards, which helps prevent hook ups on the bottom, and you can use longer leaders which gives better turn over of the leader.
